Reflection #1
Preface as well as the Point of Departure
When I first pick up a book to read whether for a school or personal satisfaction, I actually skim or more likely skip totally the Preface of books. I actually am pleased I decided to read the preface of equally texts, not merely because we were holding assigned examining but as it gave me direction to in which the three catalogs combined happen to be leading. We am enthusiastic!
I see the Preface and Point of Departure of Smith's The World's Religions, and the Preamble of Novak's The Planet's Wisdom: Almost holy Texts of the World's Beliefs. I understand the brotherhood with the texts. In Smith's book he declares, " Listening defines the idea for this book, ” which this book is definitely, " not just a book about comparative religions. ” We can not be discussing nor criticizing one faith with the other but rather learning the traditions and perception values in the religions. We are to listen and embrace the religions on the planet.
If we would have been to study each of the religions of the world we would you need to be cataloging learning not these people. Religion is not a couple of facts; it's a matter of connotations. The knowledge of religion is essential to life. Not listening and learning other people's faith is shutting your eyes to the people and the world we live in.
