Imperialism is the insurance plan of advancing the position of power of a country over a overseas country, usually in material gain. Back in the 1800's and early 1900's, the United States went through an era of imperialism. During the time, the US was quite effective, but was looking to continue to distributed their terrain, make themselves even more robust, and have multiple trade routes to have every one of the resources that they needed and wanted. There were three significant policies that the US employed during this age. One policy is the Big Stick Diplomacy. The president at the time was Roosevelt and was aiming to take control of other territories. His well-known quote related to this policy is " Speak softly and carry the big stickвЂќ. What she has saying would be that the US may play nice to others if that they let us go with our control. If they will resist, put into effect a keep and overcome them. Another policy is Social Darwinism. This plan is referred to the theory of evolution simply by Charles Darwin. The coverage says the strongest people will survive. America felt we were the strongest currently so we decided to go to weaker countries around the world, take control of them, and spread our culture. The last significant policy may be the " White Man's BurdenвЂќ. This plan stated that individuals, meaning america, must help the backwards people today belonging to the world, just like modern day third world countries. We decided to go to these countries and make them be a little more " whiteвЂќ, meaning more American simply by teaching them our culture, or way of living. In this time period, america took over the territories of Hawaii, the Philippines, Barrica, Panama, and the Panama Cacera. The reasons pertaining to the US overpowering Hawaii was for their resource of sugars and also to choose a naval bottom there to generate us more robust in trade and warfare.
